ミニ講義２：英国の子供と警察に対する考え方の変化

第一世界大戦までのイギリスは子供は大人に受け入れてもらえなかった。
Children should be seen and not heardは１５世紀あたりにできたことわざである。

当時の子供の世話は親自身がするのではなく、家庭教師に勉強を教えてもらい、身の回りの世話をしてくれるのは保母だった為、子供は子供、親は親とそれぞれ別々の生活をしていて関わることがなかった。
戦後（第二次世界大戦以降）、そのような習慣が徐々に変わり始めた。貧困の中で家庭教師などを雇うほど余裕もなくなり、またそういう人も少なくなってきた事によって母親自身が子供と一緒に遊んだり、勉強を教えてりして、子供の面倒を見るようになった。子供に対する考え方が変わり、子供を一個人として扱うようになり子供たちも隔離された世界から解放され、以前より自由を得る。

警察に対しても考え方に変化が見られる。60年代の警察はイギリス市民にとって信用できる親切な存在であり、友好的だった。しかし今では警察は親切ではない、信用できない存在だという考え方になっている。

BlindaはMotherからGemがあまり自由にできない事を聞いたが、想像がつかなかった。Mr. Tiffany JonesもGemの事はあまり話していなかった。そんな時Blindaはクリスマスにローラースケートをもらって危なっかしく遊んでいた。Motherに注意されていたのにも関わらず街灯の柱でくるくる回って危なく遊んでいた時に、偶然Gemにぶつかってしまう。反省したBlindaはMiss Tiffany Jonesに謝りの手紙を送ったが返事は返ってこなかった。学校が始まったがGemは頭がよく、Blindaとは違う学校に通うという事を知ることになる。

The house next door become very clean. Belinda talked to the people on the construction site. She went to Mr. twilfit(he is bookstore's boy and difficult character.) She study to Japanese and Japanese culture becouse want to understand dolls. The toy and furniture for a lot of girls are carried to the house in Chrismas. Mr. Tiffany　Jones was very young and wear beatiful cloth, but he does not looked father. Mr. Tiffany Jones's old sister manage to this house. After there found oud Mrs. Tiffany Jones gets sick two years ago and is hospitalized. Mr. Tiffany Jones moved here becouse he want to take care of children and the house near the hospital. The house nexi door have a chauffeur、cook、maid、the　house-man. One day in January Belinda and Nona meet the house girl Gem. She wears cloths that look expensive and she was taken home by her tutor. Nona have a intrest to her but after Nona's mather warning to her, don't go to the house next door. Becouse Miss. Tiffany Jones is a bad impression and she dislike topmeadow, and don't tolked to Nona's mother.

chapter1

There were miss happiness and miss flower. They were sending to and great -aunt 's lucy dickinson in nona fell back to indo, then Chrismas. Nona have cousin, tom, belinda, ann stayed topmeadow. Nona and belinda's window of bedroom can look into the house next door.
The house next door was an unoccupied long time becouse the house rent for expensive at that price. Topmeadow have the ilex tree what near by the house. Morning of a certain September, Belinda looked at the boy carried a lot of luggage into the house. Father said, Tiffany joneses moves to a house next door. Tiffany joneses, the nema is very noble, so Belinda interest to there.

彼女主に児童書を書いた有名な作家でとても人気がありました。ルーマゴッテンと同じ時期１９世紀の終わりに生まれ１９６０年代に亡くなっています。彼女は１００冊以上書き残していて、彼女が亡くなった後も彼女の作品は子供たちに愛読されています。ドラマ化や映画化されたものもありました。ルーマゴッデンは一人か二人を主人公とした作品でしたが、彼女は同じ主人公で物で何作もの作品を書いていました。中でも’The Famous Five’や’Mallony Towers’, 'St. Claires'などが代表作です。

I read 'Dry September'. This short story written by William Faulkner. One lady depend on her lie to happen the Negro's illefal punishment by a White. She was a poor lady, she tell a lie for wat to be in the the center of attention at town's people seem her as 'lade' with Negro died.
This story's context have a dicrimination that Faulkner's representative theme.I can't beliebe happen this thing in the old days, but my tinking is made out of live in the today. I have to study
history, more acquirement a knowledge.

Movie:
I seen ''Harry Potter". I had not seen though it was popular for a long time. The other day,
I lent DVD to seen this movie. It's very exciting! Harry is poor but he has a pure heat and kindness. His parents was died, but he do works hard bravely. I think that I learn him and study hard and let's thinking positively!

Novel:
I read "The porcelain Man" and writer is Richard Kennedy. This story sbout the man and his daughter. The men sells second hand goods. Daughter is too much obedience. She want to go out, but her father refused permmission. One day, he gathered up the broken porcelain vase, came back to home, he demand for daughter repair that. She had just set the last piece, that was a full sized porcelain man, and man spoke to her "I love you." Next, porcelain man turend into a house, let her go out. In the outside, porcelain man was broke, requires repair to her, but she fall in love with another boy, so made he dishes. She spend hapiness with lover.
The story is very interested write about woman's foul heart. She love she's moral principles from desire.

Novel:
I read 'The Ant and the Grasshopper'. The short story writen by William Somerset Maugham. He was England writer. This story about one brother's story, used ther similitudes to the Ant and Grasshopper. Older brother is the Ant, diligence, and works hard. Other brother is the Grasshopper, meanness, liar, and don't working. Older brother is lawyer, and rich ro his efforts. His brother impose on his good nature and a ghigh income. Finally Older brother's deposits dwindled away, in a reverse other brother become engaged the old woman(grandmather) and she's died and left him everything she property, so hi become richman.
This story is extremity, but I think such is life. Finally person can believe meself and need the good luck.
